Chicago Blackhawks: 15 greatest goal scorers in franchise history
Kenny Wharram was a great member of the Blackhawks for a long time. He is one of the rare breeds of a player who got to spend his entire career with one team. It happened a little more often back then, but it is still cool to see.
He played for the ‘Hawks from 1951 to 1969. Wharram won the Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks in 1961 which is the highlight of his career. He also won the Lady Byng Trophy for his play in the 1963-64 season and was a two-time NHL All-Star.
In 766 games, he scored a total of 252 goals. He chipped in 281 points for a total of 531 points. He appeared to be a rather clutch player as well, as 33 of his 252 goals were classified as game-winning goals.
Scoring goals is one of the most important things in hockey and he was able to do so for Chicago. In the season that the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup with him on the team, he chipped in three playoff goals that postseason in 12 games.
The Blackhawks were a playoff team in 10 of Wharram’s 14 seasons which is also impressive. When he started his NHL career, there were six teams and when it ended there were 12, so he had a chance to be a member of a really special era in team history.
That 1961 Stanley Cup win was so important in team history, as it was the last one for 49 seasons and Wharram got to be a part of it. He lived a great life and was a great Blackhawks goal scorer.
