Chicago Blackhawks: 15 greatest goal scorers in franchise history
Al Secord was a great player for the Blackhawks for a long time. He played for them from the 1980-81 season until the 1986-87 season. Secord was a part of a lot of winning hockey with some really good teammates and he was one of the team’s top goal scorers for a long time.
He also had stints with the Boston Bruins, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Philadelphia Flyers. There is no doubt that he is one of the greatest goal scorers this team has seen come through. If his career was longer, there is even a chance he would be higher on this list.
In 466 games for Chicago, he had 213 goals. It wasn’t a lot of games played, but in the short amount of time he was there, he sure scored a bunch. He also added in 160 assists for 373 points.
Another thing that stands out is that he had 1,426 penalty minutes in his time with the Blackhawks. He was a player who could do it all and scoring goals was one of his strong suits. His .46 goals per game are sixth all time in Blackhawks history.
He was a part of a playoff Blackhawks team in all eight of his seasons with the club. Not many players get to the playoffs with their entire tenure with a team and Secord did that. He was also great defensively for a winger, as he has some Selke votes throughout his career.
In 1982-83, he had 54 goals which were his only 50+ goal season and he added another two 40+ goal seasons with the ‘Hawks as well. Secord was able to score and the Blackhawks were the beneficiary of his skills for a long time.
