Reason #1: The Bears are low on draft picks

The Jaguars reportedly want at least one first-round pick in exchange for Ramsey and are expecting teams to offer more than just that pick. The Bears are again without a first-round pick after the Mack trade of last year, but they do have a 2021 first-rounder.

There’s not a very good chance the Jaguars would settle for a pick that’s not even for this upcoming draft, but you never know. With a good amount of defensive depth, the Bears may be able to throw in a pretty talented player to send to Jacksonville.

But there are bound to be teams that will offer multiple picks to the Jaguars, and likely will offer a first-round pick from the 2020 NFL Draft. It took a trio of top-tier picks for the Bears to acquire Mack.

The Jaguars likely won’t ask for the same, but they won’t be far off in asking a high price to give away a player of Ramsey’s caliber. He’s not quite the generational talent of a guy like Mack, but he’s definitely a franchise player.

There could be a team offering a good trade package to the Jaguars in the next week or two. The Miami Dolphins traded star corner Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday for a 2020 first-round pick.

Trading for Fitzpatrick would’ve been more realistic for the Bears, but it was also probably not going to happen. GM Ryan Pace already made his big move last offseason.
