With the Miami Dolphins undergoing a potentially large overhaul, should the Chicago Bears go after Minkah Fitzpatrick in a trade?

Even though the season started bleak, I am still thankful to be a fan of the Chicago Bears. Why?

It could always be worse.

It seems to be getting worse by the minute for Miami Dolphins fans, so let’s just say the Bears are in a fairly strong position by comparison.

For the first time in recent memory, it appears as though an NFL franchise is completely and blatantly waiving the white flag — the Dolphins are tanking.

Yeah, you read that right — tanking. You know, the term used heavily around the NBA for a while now?

Ring a bell, Chicago Bulls fans?

The Dolphins are amidst an all-out tank, when just a few months ago they traded for 2018 first-round pick Josh Rosen, making fans think they are actually taking a step towards a brighter future.

Now, the team is apparently selling — and selling hard.

If the Dolphins are indeed selling, who’s buying? Should the Bears be involved in these conversations?

I say, why not?

One of the most coveted players on the roster (and quite frankly, one of the only coveted players on the roster) is defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Recently, the team gave Fitzpatrick’s camp the go-ahead to seek a trade. Following a Week 1 catastrophe where the Dolphins were beaten by a score of 59-10, there were reports of several players wanting out of Miami, with Fitzpatrick being one of them.

At the moment, the Dolphins are apparently looking for at least one first or second-round pick in return for the 2018 first-rounder. In my opinion, I don’t see that happening. If Miami is making it apparent they’re selling, I don’t see how they get multiple firsts.

If general manager Ryan Pace could come in a little lower and swing a deal, how about it? I say, resoundingly, “yes.”

Why? I’ll give you three good reasons.
