Chicago Bears: The Defense has to stop Joe Flacco in Denver
The Chicago Bears laid an egg against the Green Bay Packers in week one and for that reason, week two is a must-win vs the Denver Broncos.
The Chicago Bears might be in trouble. They were terrible in week one against the Green Bay Packers with the nation watching on national television. Mitchell Trubisky was terrible. Matt Nagy was terrible. The offensive line was terrible. The defense was great but they didn’t make any game-breaking plays which are what made them so elite last year. Still, they held Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay offense to ten points.
With all of that said, you should still have faith in this team. They went 12-4 last season and are bringing back a slightly better roster than they already had. Maybe there will be some regression to the mean as far as the defensive turnovers, but that doesn’t mean they still can’t be the best in the NFL. Perhaps, this is an issue that was caused by there not being enough preseason snaps for the starters.
No matter what you think, week one is in the past but it made week two against the Denver Broncos in the Mile High City about as much of a must-win as you’ll find in week two. They would fall to 0-2 with a loss and Detroit has a tie, and the Minnesota Viking also started 1-0 along with the Green Bay Packers. It is hard to make up games in a seventeen week NFL schedule so the Bears need to win this game for that purpose alone.
They also need to beat the Broncos because if they can’t beat them, they can’t expect to beat any of the powerhouses in the National Football League like the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles or New Orleans Saints. Joe Flacco looked miserable for Denver on Monday night against the Oakland Raiders, who don’t have as good of a defense as good as the Bears. The Bears should be able to make Flacco turn the ball over and give their offense a chance to get into the swing of things and maybe even score a touchdown.
This is a really important game for Chicago. They need to take care of their business if they have any hopes of making it to the playoffs, let alone making a deep run in the NFC. They need all hands on deck in order to win each game. How they played in 2018 is irrelevant. They have to prove it again as you are given absolutely nothing for what you have done in the past.
