Chicago Bears: Keys to victory against Broncos

3. Get after Joe Flacco
As much as the Bears need to protect Mitchell Trubisky, the defense needs to get after Joe Flacco for the Bears to have a chance in this game. Flacco is in many ways an old-school pocket passer quarterback. He’s not the most mobile quarterback on the planet, so if you can collapse the pocket consistently, you have a chance to beat him.
The Broncos biggest concern when it comes to protecting Flacco will be figuring out how to stop Khalil Mack which means that Leonard Floyd should see plenty of opportunities. If there’s one player who didn’t get enough credit for his performance against the Packers, it’s Floyd, who came out strong and played like a guy who’s trying to earn a new contract.
In Monday’s game against the Raiders, the Broncos offensive line allowed just three sacks on Flacco. Essentially, the constant pressure on Flacco was a major reason as to why Denver was unable to move the ball consistently.
The bottomline is this: The Bears, with their front seven, will need to get after Flacco in order for the Bears defense to have another strong showing and potentially win this game. There’s no knowing what the Bears offense is going to look like which means that this might end up being another game where the Bears defense ends up winning the game.
