The Chicago Blackhawks are done with their rookie tournament in Traverse City but they are leaving with a bit of a concern.

The Chicago Blackhawks prospects defeated the prospects of the Minnesota Wild during the seventh-place game in the 2019 Traverse City prospect tournament which is always nice to see. The problem is that they couldn’t escape the game with some real concern. There are some notable injuries that came from the game that are upsetting and something of a concern.

Kirby Dach, Adam Boqvist, Phillipp Kurashev, and Mikael Hakkarainen all left during the game against the Wild with injuries. You never want to see anyone get hurt obviously, but seeing guys who are your future go down is less than ideal. Especially guys like Dach and Boqvist who are the top two prospects in the organization.

The Blackhawks won game one of the tournament when they defeated the Detroit Red Wings. Then it started to become less fun when they lost two in a row against the Toronto Maple Leafs and the St. Louis Blues. They destroyed the Wild in the seventh-place game to end the tournament on a high note despite the injuries.

Some better news came after when Rockford Ice Hogs general manager Mark Bernard gave some quotes. He announced that he believes that all four injuries are minor and shouldn’t affect them too much. There is a chance that some of them miss some of the training camp that begins on Friday but he was optimistic that they will be there.

This could be extra important for Dach and Boqvist. Both of these players are going to be given an opportunity to make the team out of camp, so we hope that these injuries don’t hinder that at all. The Blackhawks are in a much better spot with their prospects right now than they were a few years ago so it is important to develop them all properly and make sure they stay healthy. We are almost to training camp and hockey is almost officially back.
