Chicago Bears: 4 Broncos playmakers who must be stopped
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears cannot take these Denver Broncos lightly. To even their record at 1-1, a few players need to be contained.
If you ask Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, he’ll tell you the team has completely moved on from Week 1 and the embarrassment they suffered at home against the Green Bay Packers.
When speaking to the media this week, Trubisky said that he was told by a team spokesman to not answer any questions about Week 1. Whether or not you agree with that stance, I respect the fact that the team is moving on and solely focused on this week’s matchup with the Denver Broncos.
Monday night, the Broncos fell to the Oakland Raiders in a primetime matchup which was actually a more entertaining game than the Bears’ Week 1 contest. New Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco gave us our first glance at him in a Denver uniform but ultimately lost by a score of 24-16.
The Broncos did have one major thing going against them Monday night, and that’s the emotion and motivation on the Raiders’ part. After suffering through a ridiculous offseason saga with receiver Antonio Brown, Oakland was out to prove they had moved on and had a talented team, regardless.
Now, the Broncos and Bears meet at Mile High in a game where one team will leave 0-2. The Bears found themselves in a similar situation last year. After losing to the Packers in Week 1, the Bears faced a Seattle Seahawks team which was also 0-1. It was just about as close to an early-season “must win” situation as you could get.
For the Bears to escape Denver with an even record on Sunday, they are going to have to take a few of these Broncos playmakers seriously. There are four particular players I want to focus on and bring to your attention. If the Bears can limit these four guys on Sunday, they should be able to come out with a victory.
