Chicago Blackhawks: 2019-20 Pacific Division preview
Calgary Flames
The Calgary Flames were the cream of the crop in the Pacific Division n 2018-19. They also led the entire Western Conference with a record of 50-25-7 for 107 points. They were dominant and had one of their best seasons in years. Their season ended in major disappointment as they were defeated by the Colorado Avalanche in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. After winning the Western Conference in the regular season, they were underwhelming when it mattered most.
They are going to be looking to replicate what they did last season when they take the ice for the 2019-20 season. They might not have quite as many points, but they will for sure be back in the playoff mix once again. They have superstar forwards like Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan, and Matthew Tkachuk along with one of the best defense cores in the league. That defense is led by Mark Giordano, who just won the Norris Trophy as the league’s top defenseman.
Their goaltending is the shakiest part of their team as it will be Cam Talbot and David Rittich in the net. The Blackhawks collected zero points against Calgary last season as they went 0-3-0. This is going to be a tough team to beat once again so the Blackhawks are hoping that they can have a better showing against them this year. The Flames are good and should be one of the best teams in the West again if they get good goaltending.
