The Chicago Bears looked to send a message when they took on the Green Bay Packers in the first game of the NFL’s 100th season. Instead, they lost in disappointing fashion.

The Chicago Bears had a lot of hype behind them going into Thursday night’s NFL opener against the rival Green Bay Packers. Some analysts picked them to win the Super Bowl this season, and the Bears were the Vegas favorite in this game.

Things didn’t exactly go as planned, and the Bears walked away with a 10-3 loss on primetime television in front of tens of thousands of stunned fans. It seemed like deja vu from week one of last year when the Bears lost 24-23 to the Packers in Green Bay.

The Bears defense looked good initially but gave up a quick touchdown drive to the Packers to start the second quarter. Meanwhile, the offense provided absolutely no help as they went 3-15 on third-down conversions and scored only three points.

As the game wore on, it was the Packers defense making plays and the Bears offense looking completely lost. There were almost no scoring opportunities for the wide receivers, and there were some big plays called back by penalties.

Make no mistake about it, this was a very winnable game for the home team. The Packers looked great on defense, but I believe some of it was because of the inexplicable playcalling of Bears coach Matt Nagy.

Another week one is in the books for the Bears, and the result is yet another disappointing loss to the Packers. There was a lot of blame to go around on Thursday night, but these are the three major disappointments of the loss.
