The Chicago Bears lost to the Green Bay Packers and it leaves us with lots of questions about them going into week two and beyond.

The Chicago Bears were defeated by the Green Bay Packers by a final score of 10-3. The defense was pretty good as they made Aaron Rodgers look very average at different points and kept them to only 10 points. They didn’t have any takeaways which are what made them extra special in 2018 but they did do a good job against the Packers.

The offense, on the other hand, was absolutely putrid. Mitchell Trubisky was bad and there is no other way to put it. The offensive play calling by head coach Matt Nagy was terrible and had a major hand in the outcome of the game. They were never able to get in a rhythm and allowed the Green Bay Packers’ defense to suffocate them all game. It was also a little weird that David Montgomery and Mike Davis had a similar number of carries. Montgomery was highly touted after being drafted so it would be nice to see the Bears use him.

The only points the Bears were able to muster up came from a  first-quarter field goal by Eddy Pineiro. The kicker was supposed to be the only problem on this team but in this game, it provided the only points the Bears would get.

The Bears shot themselves in the foot on different occasions as well as they had a chance later in the game to tie it. They would then take three straight first down penalties that led to them needing to convert a first and 40. It didn’t happen and that was a wasted opportunity. The nail in the coffin, however, was when Trubisky threw an interception to Adrian Amos.

Amos, a former Bear, having the game-winning interception is a nightmare scenario for this Bears team and it happened. This game was terrible to watch in all facets of the game and they need to fix some things if they don’t want this season to be a total disaster. The two biggest questions come on the offense. Is Mitch what we thought he was and can Matt Nagy get back to making good play calls? It is a long season but those are some burning questions following the loss.

In 2018 they lost to the Packers in week one and then went on to go 12-3 from that point on. They are capable of doing that again this year, but they need to be much better. Being bad in week one is no reason to lose hope but it is a reason to be a little nervous.
