Chicago Bears: 5 burning questions about the Green Bay Packers
By Ryan Heckman
2. Who will be the second-most dangerous target in the passing game?
Bretl: When I hear the word “dangerous,” I think of big plays. So, for this one I’m going to have to choose second-year wide receiver, Marquez Valdes-Scantling. He has home run potential on every play with his deep speed, and in the Matt Lafleur offense, he loves to take deep shots down the field — especially off play action.
This could mean plenty of big plays for Valdes-Scantling this season, who is going to be the Packers’ deep threat. Green Bay hasn’t really had this kind of receiver recently, so he will add a new element to the offense and his downfield ability will open things up elsewhere for Davante Adams and Geronimo Allison.
Takeaway: For the Bears, it could likely end up being Prince Amukamara on Valdes-Scantling, with Kyle Fuller on Adams. Amukamara isn’t the fastest corner, so he’s going to need to stay physical with Valdes-Scantling at the line, attempting to jam if he can. The Bears will need help over the top from the likes of Eddie Jackson, should Valdes-Scantling get sent deep.
