1. What are your thoughts on head coach Matt LaFleur? How about his relationship with Aaron Rodgers?

Bretl: So far, I’ve been very impressed with what I’ve seen. I love how he carries himself (LaFleur) in press conferences after practices or after preseason games. But, what I’ve noticed the most is how practice is conducted.

Throughout training camp, I was able to attend six or seven practices and a few things in particular stood out. One was the efficiency; there was little wasted time and there were drills that allowed the players to work on multiple things at once time within a single rep.

Next, was the tempo. In today’s NFL, practice time is precious, and everything moved at a very quick pace.

Lastly, was the competition. It was just great to see a lot of high-intensity, one-on-one or 11-on-11 drills. With a new coach, you never know what to expect when it comes to how practices will be ran, but LaFleur did a fantastic job. Obviously, it is still early and games need to be played — but I’ve been encouraged.

As far as their relationship goes, I think it is a lot of nonsense coming from talking heads who had time to fill over the summer. One of the bigger storylines was Rodgers wanting to change plays at the line of scrimmage.

Every quarterback in this league — at least, the good ones — are able to do that. It’s just another example of a non-story becoming something far more than it should have. I have zero worries about their relationship.

Takeaway: LaFleur was a strong hire for the Packers, quite honestly. If he and Rodgers gel, the offense could be dangerous. A lot of the nonsense made by the media was certainly funny as a Bears fan, but I would have to agree that when it all comes down to it, that nonsense was likely all fluff to begin with.
