5. Evan Fournier

Evan Fournier is an intersting option, as the free agent class is a thin one next summer, so the shooting guard could decide to opt out of his $17 million player option.

If he does, he will be a big target for shooting off the bench for contending teams. Considering where the Bulls roster should be, Fournier would be a great fit.

Zach Lavine isn’t going anywhere, but if the Bulls want to be a championship caliber team, they’ll have to work on pushing some of the load off of Lavine. One way that this can be done is by signing another guard such as Fournier.

Fournier would be a great fit because he would essentially do the same thing as Lavine, except in coming off the bench. Fournier is a great shooter and would give the Bulls a big jolt off the bench. Obviously signing him would not help solve the Bulls defensive woes, but you can never have too much shooting, and in signing Fournier the Bulls would be able to lessen the wear and tear on Lavine.

Fournier could decide to sign elsewhere in order to have a bigger role, but as an aging veteran, competing for a championship should be his main goal. Unless something catastrophic happens this year, that won’t be an option in Orlando. The Bulls are trending up and Fournier should bank on an opportunity to play a somewhat large role on a contending team.

Fournier would cost more than $17 million, but for a shooter as elite as him, it’s a price worth paying for the Bulls. Fournier would also deliver some much-needed veteran leadership to a young locker room.
