Chicago Bears: 53-man roster brings intrigue, questions

Positive stories
There were a couple of guys you had to feel real good about making this roster. The first one, as pictured above, is Whyte. As a seventh-round pick, Whyte came to the Bears at a position which had some depth already.

Following the additions of Montgomery and Davis, and having to beat out Ryan Nall, Whyte worked his tail off and I think the Bears saw a lot of value in his upside on special teams to begin with. Down the road, he could be yet another speedy weapon to employ offensively.
On the other side of the ball, Josh Woods takes the cake for me. There may not be a nicer guy on the team than Woods, and he put it all out there last year while making it to the Bears’ practice squad. This year, he sees his name on that initial 53-man roster. He made it.
Another kid you like to see make it? Nick Williams. Like Woods, Williams has made it tough for the coaches to ignore his efforts. He only appeared in two games last year as a reserve, but making this initial roster should mean more in 2019.
