Chicago Bears: 53-man roster brings intrigue, questions
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears roster is not quite final, but cuts have been made to trim down to the initial 53 players.
It is officially on to Week 1 of the 2019 NFL season, folks. The Chicago Bears are just five days away from taking on their bitter rival Green Bay Packers on Thursday night.
Saturday, the Bears trimmed down their roster to 53 players in preparation for the regular season. Here is the roster as it stands now:
Quarterbacks: Mitchell Trubisky, Chase Daniel
Running Backs: Tarik Cohen, David Montgomery, Mike Davis, Kerrith Whyte
Wide Receivers: Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel, Anthony Miller, Riley Ridley, Cordarrelle Patterson, Javon Wims
Tight Ends: Trey Burton, Adam Shaheen, Ben Braunecker, Bradley Sowell
Offensive Line: Charles Leno, Kyle Long, James Daniels, Cody Whitehair, Bobby Massie, Rashaad Coward, Ted Larsen, Cornelius Lucas
Defensive Line: Akiem Hicks, Eddie Goldman, Bilal Nichols, Abdullah Anderson, Nick Williams
Inside Linebackers: Roquan Smith, Danny Trevathan, Nick Kwiatkoski, Joel Iyiegbuniwe, Josh Woods, Kevin Pierre-Louis
Outside Linebackers: Khalil Mack, Leonard Floyd, Isaiah Irving, Aaron Lynch
Cornerbacks: Kyle Fuller, Prince Amukamara, Buster Skrine, Duke Shelley, Kevin Toliver
Safeties: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Eddie Jackson, Deon Bush, DeAndre Houston-Carson, Sherrick McManis
Specialists: Eddy Pineiro, Pat O’Donnell, Patrick Scales
With the cuts made by other teams, you have to figure the Bears are not yet done. This roster is not yet finalized, as I am positive Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy will be looking to add other players whom were cut from their respective teams this weekend.
As an initial reaction, let’s look into some good stories and also ask a few questions about some of the guys who were left off the roster.
