2. Tight end will be bigger weakness than kicker

I truly believe, with every fiber in my body, that the Bears’ biggest weakness on this entire team is going to be tight end. When all is said and done in 2019, I boldly predict the kicking game will shine brighter than the tight end.

Trey Burton has had his concerns with injury, and the whole saga which held him out of last year’s Wildcard game against the Philadelphia Eagles. I like Burton, but I don’t believe he’s as good as his contract originally made him out to be. He’s better as a utility tight end than he is someone who consistently stretches the field.

Behind Burton, the Bears have a ton of question marks. For this reason, I think you’re going to see a lot more utilization of multiple back sets and a plethora of plays drawn up for several receivers. I really don’t see a tight end surpassing 500 yards receiving this season (like Burton’s 569 last year).

Whether or not Pineiro ends up being “the” guy, I am going out on a limb and stating that tight end is the position where Chicago is the weakest — I know, call me crazy.
