Chicago Bears: Five matchups to watch against the Tennessee Titans
By Usayd Koshul
As the Chicago Bears wrap up their preseason by hosting the Tennessee Titans, we breakdown five matchups to look forward to on Thursday night.
The fourth preseason game for the Chicago Bears may appear as if it’s just another meaningless game to some, however, to third and fourth-string players it represents a prime opportunity for players to make one last bid at making the Bears roster.
After the matchup against the Titans, the Bears will begin the process of trimming their roster down to 53-players. This means that between Friday and Saturday, 37 players will be sent home and the Bears will immediately turn the page towards preparing for week one against the Green Bay Packers.
As of right now, the five players on the Bears that will need to win their matchups against the Titans are: offensive lineman Alex Bars, cornerback John Franklin III, running back Ryan Nall, safety DeAndre Houston-Carson, and middle linebacker Joel Iyiegbunwie. All guys who received extended playing time against the Indianapolis Colts.
Of the five names listed above, the two that are most likely to make the Bears roster are Bars and Nall. Bars impressed when he was given extended playing time against the Colts. On the other hand, Nall can be labeled a preseason star for the Bears who showed potential to make the 53-man roster last year but was cut and placed on the practice squad.
As the Bears get ready to host the Titans, what are some matchups to watch for? Additionally, how can each of the names listed above end up winning their matchups? We’ll examine all that as we preview some matchups to look out for.
