2. Eddy Pineiro

This is the most obvious one on this list. With Elliott Fry gone, Eddy Pineiro will have a chance to handle the kicking spotlight alone. Playing against the Colts on the road is the perfect opportunity for him to prove that he can be the Bears kicker of the future.

The reality is that Pineiro knows he’s on thin ice. At the kicking position, the Bears have shown that they won’t allow just anyone to be their next kicker. The Bears want their next kicker to come in and earn the starting job.

Since the Bears are going to play second, third, and fourth stringers throughout the game, it’s likely that Pineiro will see plenty of opportunities to prove what he can do. He’s getting more reps now that he’s the only kicker on the roster and needs to make the most of extended playing time.

One of the major drawbacks of playing in Indianapolis is the fact that the game will end up being inside a dome, which is somewhat problematic considering the Bears play games that are mainly outdoors where factors such as weather play such an integral role.

As the Bears continue their quest to find a kicker, Friday night is a prime opportunity for Pineiro. Nobody, not even Pineiro could’ve envisioned that the Bears would be the only have one kicker on the roster with two weeks to go in the preseason.
