As the Chicago Bears get ready to play the Indianapolis Colts, who are five players that will need to have a big game in order to secure a spot on the 53-man roster?

Although the Chicago Bears lost a meaningless game to the New York Giants last week, the Bears still have plenty of work to do as the team prepares to take on the Indianapolis Colts this week. These next two weeks are important for multiple players on the Bears as the team will begin making cuts as the Bears begin trimming their roster down to 53 players preparation for the regular season.

Due to such a deep and talented roster, it is tougher to even to evaluate which players really need to stand out on Saturday night and have a big game. However, as of right now, there are players who could be cut come Sunday or Monday morning if they don’t prove enough to the Bears coaching staff.

From what we know, positions like wide receiver and running back are set for the Bears. There are however players at positions like tight end, cornerback, inside linebacker, and kicker that need to have big games to make a serious case for staying on the Bears 53-man roster.

As of right now, the five players that will need to standout on Saturday night are: Nick Kwiatkoski, Ryan Nall, Bradley Sowell, John Franklin III, and Eddy Pineiro. Of these five names listed, the one guy who will likely end up making the Bears 53-man roster is Bradley Sowell due to the fact that he switched from offensive tackle to tight end this offseason and the Bears view him as someone who’s still developing.

As for the other four names listed above, each of them have gotten extended playing time in the preseason but have yet to prove that they deserve a spot on the Bears roster. As the Bears get ready to play the Colts, why do each of the following players need to have a big game? We’ll breakdown why and how each of these players can prove they belong on the Bears roster for at least another week.
