Chicago Bears: 4 players who deserve to make the roster
James Vaughters
Another player who is flashing on the field during preseason games is outside linebacker, James Vaughters. A relative unknown coming into training camp, Vaughters has been with six professional football teams since 2015, including the Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots, Calgary Stampeders (twice), San Diego Chargers, and now the Bears.
The journeyman had a terrific game last Friday night against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium. He finished with two solo tackles, including a strip-sack and a fumble recovery. He also did a very nice job of getting pressure on Daniel Jones.

Just like at tight end, the Bears are a little thin when it comes to depth at the outside linebacker position. Khalil Mack and Leonard Floyd are as good as it gets, but behind them, they have Aaron Lynch who gave them quality play last year. After that, it gets a little murky.
Vaughters is competing with Chuck Harris, Isaiah Irving, Kylie Fitts, and Mathieu Betts. While Irving has played well, no one has really separated themselves as dominant from that group. That means there are plenty of opportunities for Vaughters to grab ahold of this roster spot. If he keeps playing the way he did on Friday, the job just might be his.
