With the preseason coming to a close in just a couple of weeks, we examine three players who deserve a roster spot with the Chicago Bears.

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy has seemed to turn the NFL’s preseason on its head the past two years. Last season, Nagy played his stars very sparingly throughout the preseason, even though it was his first year as a head coach and the team was installing a brand new offensive system.

This season, Nagy has taken it to another level, with his starters essentially not playing at all thus far —  trend that is expected to continue. Other head coaches have followed suit to an extent, limiting how much their key players see the field. But Nagy could be setting a trend that will only continue to sweep across the league — possibly even leading to changes in how the NFL structured the preseason.

Fans appear to be somewhat split on the issue, though the majority seem to value keeping everyone healthy over watching them get a few series in their four preseason games.

Regardless of what you think about the approach relative to the starters, there is one undeniable impact — and that is that it gives the coaches (and fans) more opportunities to see some of the second and third unit players vying for a roster spot.

With that said, there are a number of those types of players who have made an impact this season, and we identify four that deserve a spot on this roster. Whether they get it, remains to be seen.
