Oddsmakers in Las Vegas think that the Chicago Bears have a good shot to win the Super Bowl this season. There are some decent odds on a handful of bets that may intrigue Bears fans.

There’s a buzz around the Chicago Bears this season, coming off a great 2018 campaign that saw the team become NFC North Champions and finish with a 12-4 record in the regular season. That performance turned a lot of heads last year.

It also caught the attention of oddsmakers in Las Vegas. The Bears are one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl this season, and it’s no surprise based on the team’s performance last season. All odds listed in this article are sourced from Bovada.

Currently, the Bears sit at 14/1 odds to win the Super Bowl this year. That’s good enough to put them in the top 10, but they aren’t the favorites to win it all. That honor goes to both the Kansas City Chiefs and the New England Patriots at 6/1 odds.

To me, that’s a pretty good futures bet for a team you’re hoping goes to the Super Bowl anyway. It makes things all that more interesting to throw down a small wager hoping that the Bears raise the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the season.

Betting on who will win the Super Bowl is pretty straightforward, and there’s really about half of the field that can be eliminated right off the bat as their rosters are in no position to compete for the championship. Betting on individual players is a bit more tricky.

When it comes to odds on who will win the 2019 NFL MVP award, Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky sits at +1800 odds on the money line.

For those not familiar with money lines, a line like +2000 means you’d win $1800 on a $100 bet. Here’s a more detailed explanation of money line bets from Vegas.com.

Trubisky is more of a favorite to win the NFL MVP than I thought he’d be. The +1800 money line actually puts him in the top 10 favorites to win the award. Last year’s MVP, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, is again favored to win the award at +550.

If the Bears are going to go all the way, some think it will be in spite of Trubisky rather than because of his performance. I’m not that low on him, but I find the idea that he’d win the MVP unlikely.

I want Trubisky to do amazing this season, but I’m not sure about this bet. His stats don’t mirror that of a guy like Mahomes.

The last bet I want to discuss involves the over-under total of wins oddsmakers predict for the Bears next season. The total is set at nine wins, and the bettor must pick total wins over or under that number for the season.

Nine wins is a lot, but this is a great team. Even with regression from last year, I think they could still hit the over. Their schedule is tougher, but this team is in the right place to repeat as division champions and go to the playoffs.

With the money line for the over at -120, it will take a bigger bet to win big on the Bears. In my opinion, this is the safest bet for the Bears this season.

Odds like these mean experts in Vegas expect the Bears to do well this season. For fans dreading a slump from last year’s great effort, this is one indicator that those fears aren’t shared by all.
