3. Michael Kopech’s Return

When: March 29th vs Kansas City Royals

Where: Guaranteed Rate Field

Disclaimer: There is no way of knowing that this will certainly be Michael Kopech‘s return, but if he is on track to be without limitations by Spring Training, then there is no reason to believe that he won’t be in the White Sox’s opening day rotation.

More from Da Windy City

Let’s assume that Kopech breaks camp with the team. As of right now, he would be slotted in as the number three starter in the White Sox rotation, which would line him up for the third game of the season, which is on March 29th against the Kansas City Royals.

Kopech’s return might just have as much anticipation as his major league debut last August. Kopech’s rehab has been well-chronicled and given the season-long struggles of the White Sox rotation this season, Kopech’s return has been a long time coming.

Making his return at home will be even sweeter, as it will come in the finale of a three-game set against the Royals to open the season. If things go down as they should, there is a good chance that the White Sox will be going for a sweep in this game, making Kopech’s start, even more, hyped up.

Additionally, this game is against the Royals, a team that has no intention of winning any time soon. I’m not saying this will be an easy win, but if there were to be any team that Kopech would love to make a grand return against, I’m sure the Royals would be near the top of that list.

This game could be the start of a year-long revenge tour for Kopech. One of the top talents in the entire organization, Kopech will certainly be a centerpiece of the White Sox rotation next season and for several years to come, and it will all begin on this date in 2020.
