In a not surprising, but maybe unsuspecting move at this point in the offseason, the Chicago Bears waive former Missouri wide receiver Emanuel Hall.

The Chicago Bears have a very deep wide receiving corps. Shocking after what the team portrayed as a starting wide receiving corps. just two years ago. Ryan Pace has transformed that positional group drastically.

As the offseason progresses, teams will need to make some tough decisions. It seems the Bears have done that already regarding a fan favorite in Emanuel Hall. The Bears announced they waived Hall this morning. Hall was an undrafted free agent out of Missouri. I had high hopes that the Bears would sign him and even higher hopes he’d make an impact and the team.

Hall is a speedy receiver who has a limited route tree. However, with a subpackage and deep routes, he could make some noise in the NFL. Hall was never going to be a top receiver in the league, but I thought for sure he was good enough to make the team. With the emergence of the Bears other Hall (Marvin Hall), Emanuel Hall was looking to be a longshot on this roster.

This move was not surprising to me, but with Emanuel Hall dealing with injuries most of the offseason, I thought they’d take a longer look at the kid. He had 97 catches for 2,016 yards and 16 touchdowns at Missouri. Again, nothing spectacular as those stats were combined over 45 games. However, with his speed, do not be surprised if another team takes a look at Hall. I do not believe his NFL career is over.

In fact, a team like the New York Giants who have been dealing with a plague of injuries to their wide receivers should probably pick up the phone and call Hall as soon as they possibly can. Other teams like the New York Jets or Miami Dolphins come to mind who might need some additional wide receiver help.

Chicago Bears: Could they make a trade?. dark. Next

Looking ahead, this leaves Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel, Anthony Miller, Javon Wims, Cordarrelle Patterson, Riley Ridley and Marvin Hall as the main names left at wide receiver. Will all seven make the team or will we see one additional cut? My guess is they plan on keeping all seven, but Ryan Pace and company could surprise me.
