Trade Package No. 1

The New York Giants have had a rough offseason at the wide receiver position. For starters, they ended up dealing Odell Beckham Jr. after things fell apart between the two sides. Fast forward, after signing Golden Tate in free agency, and their new starting wide receiver is going to be out the first four games due to suspension.

To add injury to insult, Corey Coleman tore his ACL in practice a couple of weeks back and Sterling Shepard broke his thumb. While Shepard insists he’ll be ready for Week 1, the Giants’ top healthy wide receiver at the moment is Cody Latimer. Next to Latimer is a former Bears cut, Bennie Fowler.

Adding a young, big-bodied receiver like Javon Wims might be just what the doctor ordered. Giving the quarterback of the future, Daniel Jones, another weapon to work with will absolutely help in his development. While Wims is just a seventh-round pick with hardly any real experience, we’ve seen flashes of what his ceiling looks like.

If the Bears could net a sixth-round pick for Wims, I would call that a win, especially considering all of the playmakers they have in that group already.
