Chicago Bears: Using the end of last season as motivation
The Chicago Bears have had a pretty good offseason, but the pain of the way 2018’s season ended still lingers and will until the 2019 season begins.
Most people recognize that the Chicago Bears are likely going to have a really good year in 2019. They were an elite team in 2018 and are going to be looking to build on it this year. The way it ended made it even worse because that team truly could have done something special had they won their playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
That is no disrespect to the Eagles, who were the defending champs at the time and deserved to be respected as such. With that said, if Cody Parkey makes that field goal the Bears would have moved on to the next round of the playoffs. The kicking was a problem for the Bears all year long and it was apparent that it could come back to bite them and it did.
They are largely returning the same team plus a few new additions this year and everybody is still annoyed with what happened. The core of this team along with the role players should use this ugly defeat as motivation to make sure it doesn’t happen again. They are going to be mad and the best way to show it is on the field.
They have some elite players and none are better than Khalil Mack. This year should be even better for Mack because he knew what team he’d be playing for all offseason and has been preparing to be a Bear. He should come out this year and be even better to lead this defense to reach new heights.
They need another step forward from quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. He was good in 2018 but being great in 2019 would complement this elite defense and could allow the Bears to be on of, if not the best team in the NFL. The last time he touched the football in a game that counted, he drove his team down the field and gave them a chance to win the game. He has to be super motivated after his efforts went to waste and will be looking to show that it wasn’t a fluke.

Once the season officially gets underway, people will start to forget about how 2018 ended but the players are going to need to use it as motivation. At the end of the day, it is less than ideal to rely on a kick to win the game so the team will be looking to be better. It is a good time to be a Bears fan and hopefully, they are able to put together a great season.
