Preseason game number one is in the books for the Chicago Bears, and we break it down for you.

Football returned to Soldier Field on Thursday night as the Chicago Bears took on the Carolina Panthers in their first preseason game of the season. The evening opened up with a bit of a surprise as quarterback Mitchell Trubisky emerged from the tunnel dressed and ready to go. At the same time, reports emerged that Trubisky would get some playing time in the opener.

Well, he did, but it was about as bland as it could get. Trubisky handed off three consecutive times backed up deep in their own end before the Bears punted away. That was the end of the night for Trubisky, whose primary goal for the night was to remain healthy.

After that, it was a bit of a slow start for the Bears who didn’t do much on offense for the first three series before putting together a nice 6 play, 49-yard drive to go up 7-6 on a David Montgomery 7-yard touchdown run.

In the second half, the third unit took over for the most part and not surprisingly, the Bears struggled to get much going falling 23-13.

Despite the end result, there were still a number of interesting takeaways from the game, and we break down the top three.
