We break down what to watch for in the Chicago Bears first preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.

Well, Chicago Bears fans, the time has finally come for the first preseason game of the year. I can’t help but think of the poignant words of one of the greatest entertainers of the last 50 years. As Barry Manilow said, ‘looks like we made it!”

Apologies in advance for getting that song stuck in your head, but it’s tough to hide the excitement. After enduring an entire offseason without football — including having to listen to some of the ridiculous media “takes” out there about Mitchell Trubisky, or how the defense will regress — we are back.

The other thing you likely won’t miss about the offseason is the fact that the topics to write about are pretty limited. But that’s all behind us now, and we can get back to real football talk.

With that, we look forward to Thursday night’s game against the Carolina Panthers from Soldier Field.

Now, we all know and have learned (particularly with Matt Nagy at the helm) not to get too excited about the preseason. The team is unlikely to play its starts much if at all, this preseason. So you’re not going to learn much about that group. However, there is still an awful lot to be excited about for Thursday and a number of things to watch for. With that, we break down three storylines to watch in Thursday night’s game.
