Chicago Bears: Way-too-early 2020 offseason preview
By Usayd Koshul
5. Conclusion
The Bears will have a busy offseason in 2020 and here’s how the team needs to tackle nest offseason. First, the team will need to clear up some cap space in order to resign core players. The best NFL teams always figure out ways to pay their best players and keep them happy. Usually, the best players on a team are the ones acquired via the NFL Draft.
Then, the focus will shift to figuring out how to resign guys like Danny Trevathan. Regarding the free-agent market, the Bears won’t be making any major moves and signing any big-time players. Instead, it’s fair to expect the team to make some under-the-radar signings and bring in players at a bargain price.
In many ways, next offseason will be somewhat of a transition period for the Bears as one of two things will happen. It will be all about figuring out how to continue to sustain a top-tier roster, but then also continue to get younger and build for the future.
Overall, the Bears appear to be in a good position to handle next offseason. General Manager Ryan Pace has made a number of moves that will allow the Bears to navigate what will be a tight salary cap. Pace has also put the Bears in a position to be successful for years to come.
