Chicago Bears: 4 players to trade before roster cuts
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears could opt to deal one of a few players before roster cuts begin, instead of losing talent for nothing.
This is the time where champions are made. The Chicago Bears are in the thick of their 2019 training camp, and all reports thus far have been encouraging.
One of the best parts about this year’s camp has been the talk around the offense. Mitchell Trubisky is no longer learning the playbook. He no longer needs to gain comfort with it. Instead, he now knows the offense like the back of his hand — and that’s exciting to hear.
The ceiling for this year’s offense is even higher now that they’re in Year 2 of Matt Nagy’s system. Not to mention, adding David Montgomery and Mike Davis to the back field should give the Bears a nasty three-headed monster with Tarik Cohen.
The wide receiver spot is as deep as it’s ever been, too — almost too deep.
In fact, the Bears have a lot of spots which feature plenty of depth. General manager Ryan Pace has done a fantastic job building up this team over the last few years and has proven he knows how to draft along the way.
Because of that drafting prowess and his knack for being able to sign some strong free agents over the last two seasons, Pace might have a problem on his hands. Could the Bears be too deep at certain spots?
This is the time teams should start to think about potential roster cuts and look at guys who may be able to draw interest on the trade market. For the Bears, there are definitely some names which fans think could be in that conversation.
Which players could Pace opt to deal before training camp and preseason concludes? Let’s look at just a few, and what they may get back for each one.
