Jonathan Toews

The Chicago Blackhawks dynasty started and ended with its captain, Jonathan Toews was an elite player for the Hawks during their three runs to the cup and is still to this game a very good center. This is the type of two way forward that you need in order to win Stanley Cups. He is/was able to drive offense as well as shut down some of the very best players in the entire world.

Toews has literally won every team crown there is to win. With a Stanley Cup, Olympic Gold Medal, and World Cup of Hockey Championship, he has really shown that he can be a major part of winning. He won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player in the playoffs in 2010 as he led Chicago to it’s first Stanley Cup in 49 years. He won the Mark Messier leadership award in 2014-15 and is universally considered one of the best captains in the NHL. He also won the Selke Trophy in 2013 as the leagues best defensive forward. He has been mister everything for this team.

His two-way game is what he came to be known for, but his offense was not too shabby either. So far in his career, he has 327 goals and 428 assists for 755 points in 873 games. That is great production for one of the best defensive centers of the generation. He is also a career +195 which shows that he was on the ice for way more even-strength goals for than even-strength goals against. He was named to the NHL’s top 100 players when the list came out to celebrate the 100 greatest players in NHL history which is a major honor.

The Blackhawks have been so lucky to have Jonathan Toews in the mix for all these years and hopefully they can maximize what is left in his prime. He is coming off of his best year offensively, so hopefully, that aspect can continue as well.
