Anthony Miller was everything the Chicago Bears hoped he’d be in his rookie season. Let’s look at the best and worst-case scenarios in year two.

When the Chicago Bears traded up in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft to grab Anthony Miller, they were hoping he’d resemble something close to the player at Memphis that put up back-to-back 1,400+ receiving yard seasons.

He provided a glimpse for Bears fans of what he is capable of during his rookie campaign hauling in 33 receptions for 423 yards and 7 touchdowns. Miller dealt with a shoulder injury much of the season indicating that he painfully dislocated it five or six times. Yikes. If that’s Anthony Miller playing injured, imagine what he’s capable at 100 percent.

He’s determined to prove to everyone that he is a double-digit touchdown machine in 2019.

"“Chicago hasn’t seen how I can play yet. Every time I tried to stiff arm, it would come out, or if I ran kind of crazy, it would come out. Really I was playing games with like one arm, making it happen. This year I’ve got two, so watch out.” – Bears Wire"

Miller was expected to miss much of training camp recovering from the injury but he’s been a full participant thus far hauling in a terrific touchdown pass from quarterback Chase Daniel on Sunday.

We’ll see if he’s cleared for contact when the first preseason game comes on August 8 and that should provide a bit more clarity if he’ll be in good shape for the regular-season opener against Green Bay. Let’s look at the best and worst-case scenarios for Miller in 2019.

Best Case Scenario

Miller builds off a solid rookie season in which he had a 61.1 percent catch rate and a 12.8 yards-per-reception average. He becomes a legitimate number two wide receiver for Mitchell Trubisky and catches 10 touchdown passes to go along with 800 receiving yards.

Worst Case Scenario

The shoulder injury creeps up again and limits his production. He produces similar yardage from a year ago but catches just 3 touchdown passes as defenses do a nice job of accounting for his presence on the field.

dark. Next. Bears should consider trading Javon Wims to Giants

So what actually happens? I am inclined to lean towards the best-case scenario for Miller in 2019. I just think he’s too talented and he’s a man on a mission to prove everyone wrong. Look for him to become a household name this year.
