Chicago Bears: Early training camp 53-man roster projection
By Ryan Heckman
Defensive Line
The Bears are once again going to be nasty in the trenches on defense. Everybody loves to talk about the All Pros beyond the line, but it all starts up front with no. 96 — and he continues to get better and better.
Defensive Line: Akiem Hicks, Eddie Goldman, Bilal Nichols, Roy Robertson-Harris, Chuck Harris, Jonathan Bullard
The starting three will be Hicks, Goldman and Nichols. The one player in this group who joins the team in his first year is Harris, who comes from Buffalo like Mack did. If he’s not careful, Bullard could see his name disappear from the roster altogether should Harris totally outplay him throughout camp and preseason.
The two guys who could push Bullard even further are Nicholas Williams and Johnathan Harris. I’d imagine Bullard makes it, but this should be his last year with the Bears. He’s been given ample chances to break out and has yet to do so, even seeing Robertson-Harris up and pass him on the depth chart.
