Chicago Bears: Early training camp 53-man roster projection
By Ryan Heckman
As the Chicago Bears begin training camp, we buckle down and predict the 53-man roster. Who makes the cut and who gets left out?
The Chicago Bears are on the field in Bourbonnais and training camp is now in session. The 2018 season was a great way to set the stage for a Super Bowl run this year, and you better believe the expectations are high within the players’ minds.
As camp opened up and the players gave their time to the media, one thing was clear: These Bears are more motivated than ever before.
"“We’re hungrier than we were last year.” –Khalil Mack via NBCS Chicago"
Mack went on to say that he’s speaking for himself above everybody else. He made it crystal clear that he is way hungrier than he was a year ago.
As for last year?
“It definitely wasn’t good enough,” Mack said.
Players have gone on record this offseason saying that they are unafraid of the comparisons to the 1985 Bears — they want to be better. Safety Eddie Jackson famously said that they want to be the no. 1 defense across the board in 2019 — in every category — and go down as the best defense in Bears history.
While we know Mack and Jackson are locks for this roster, obviously, all eyes will be on the guys behind them. Fans love watching the players fighting for their jobs and wondering which guys will be included in some surprise cuts.
This year will be no different. The Bears are deep everywhere (except for one position we shall name later) and depth is the story to watch in terms of the overall roster. With that said, I give you my early training camp prediction for the final 53-man roster. Let’s get into it.
