The captain had a fantastic year in 2018-19. Jonathan Toews has been one of the two best forwards the Blackhawks have seen in many decades. He is known for his all-time great two-way game. His play overall 200 feet of ice is what has made him an elite player in his career. In 2018-19 he had a career year offensively at 30 years old.

Normally, your numbers don’t all of the sudden get better offensively once you get older, but that has been the case for Toews. That very well could continue in 2019-20. It is almost likely that it will continue due to who his linemates will be so we can all look forward to a great year from Toews,

That career year that was mentioned, 35 goals and 46 assists for 81 points. Career highs all around. This has also not been at the expense of his two-way game. Toews has reemerged as one of the best two-way centers in the league. In 2019-20 he is going to be Chicago’s top-line center, which also means he will get the toughest assignments. When the Pittsburgh Penguins come to town he will be seeing lots of Sidney Crosby, or when the Boston Bruins come in he can expect a heavy dosage of Patrice Bergeron.

That makes it that much more impressive for Toews to put up the offensive numbers that he did in 2018-19. If all goes right, he should be able to match it again next season.
