Dylan Strome was an excellent addition to the Chicago Blackhawks in 2018-19. He was traded to Chicago from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for Nick Schmaltz. Schmaltz was a decent player for the Blackhawks and it looked like a fair trade at first, but Strome showed why he was the third overall pick in the 2015 NHL draft after becoming a Blackhawk.

Strome had 20 goals and 37 assists for 57 points in 78 NHL games played last year. Those are good numbers for any player, but they are a little deceiving in Strome’s case. That is .73 points per game average, but those stats have his Chicago and Arizona numbers combined. In 58 games with Chicago, he had 17 goals and 34 assists for 51 points. That makes his points per game average .88, which is way higher than the .73 for the season. This was also his first full NHL season, so it can only go up from there.

If he can repeat what he did last year and potentially even grow a little bit, we could be looking at a guy that is a point per game in the NHL. He has all the talent in the world. He was taken third overall in one of the best drafts of all time. The two guys that went ahead of him? Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel, ever heard of them?

Expect big things from Dylan Strome in 2019-20. He has yet another level to take his game and he might just do that. He should, if healthy, get all the games as the second-line center. He will get the best fitting wingers for his style and everyone should be excited about what Strome can bring.
