Chicago Blackhawks: The big four forwards in 2019-20
The Chicago Blackhawks are going to be able to score some goals in 2019-20. They have lots of talent up front and these four lead the way.
The Chicago Blackhawks are looking like they might be a decent team next year. They likely will not be world-beaters like they were from 2010-2015. They could, however, be a bubble team all year long and compete for a playoff spot for most of the season and potentially even snag one of them. They are in a very tough division, so things will not be easy.
If they are going to have a good year, it will likely be on the basis of scoring goals and getting offensive production from their best players. In particular, their four best forwards. They have a pretty deep group of forwards from 1-12 but the big four are going to lead the way again. They are likely going to be split 2-2 for their top two lines, and each pair will be given a third wheel. Training camp and the preseason will determine who wins those two spots.
These four players combined for 324 points in 2018-19 and were the reason that the Blackhawks even sniffed the playoffs at any point of the season. They probably would not have even been in the conversation at all after New Year if even one of these guys wasn’t in the lineup every night. In hockey, you need to be able to defend and that is the key to winning in the NHL, but you won’t win anything if you can’t score some goals as well.
