Chicago Bears: Training camp is the sign of a fresh start
The Chicago Bears will begin training camp with high hopes about how their season is going to go. They believe they have what it takes.
The Chicago Bears are about to begin training camo once again. Things will start to get rolling quickly as they prepare for the 2019 season. It promises to be a really good year for the Bears as they will have some pretty high expectations. The won the division with a record of 12-4 and made their first trip to the NFL playoffs since 2010.
They didn’t earn a bye week, so they had to play the Philadelphia Eagles during Wild Card Weekend. They were having a solid game defensively and quarterback Mitchell Trubisky put them in position to win the game, and then you know what happened next. Kicker Cody Parkey hit the ball off the upright and the crossbar and sent the Eagles to the next round. It was a well-played game by the Bears that was ruined because of their kicker.
Now, it is time to forget about all of it. The good and the bad are both parts of the past and that needs to be the key to this training camp. They need to go into this year angry about what happened, but not act like they will be in that position again just because they are a good team.
The Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings both plan on having good years so they need to be ready for that as well. Whether or not those teams will be good remains to be seen, but they should be ready anyway in case they are.
This is another full season where Trubisky can, hopefully, take another step. Khalil Mack will be there for all of camp and the preseason and hopefully, he can lead this defense to be the best in the NFL once again. If all of these things happen, this should be the elite team that we are all expecting. It is one of the most exciting times to be a Bears fan in a while.
This camp should show that they are improved in all three facets of the game. Offense, defense, and special teams have all been improved to some degree. That is saying something because we a are talking about a 12-4 team that was a missed field goal away from the second round and you never know what would have happened. It is up to them to use this training to help them take a step forward instead of a step behind.
