The Chicago Blackhawks Convention is already here and that is always a fun little thing to follow during the dog days of the hockey calendar.

The NHL calendar is as dry as can be right now. All but one or two big-time free agents are signed, most of the elite RFA’s are at standoffs with their team and there isn’t much buzz surrounding those stories right now, and actual hockey being played is still more than a month away. The Chicago Blackhawks have something that always makes this boring part of the year a little more exciting.

The 12th annual Blackhawks convention starts this weekend. It will run from Friday to Sunday at the Hilton Chicago. It is a convention that allows fans, players, and former players to interact over the weekend-long event. There are many notable names that are expected to be there to meet fans, do Q&As, play interactive games, and speak about the current state of the team. It is a fun time for both kids and adults alike.

This is an event that the Blackhawks sell out every time and it is always a big part of their offseason agenda. They sell single ticket passes as well as weekend passes. They encourage weekend packages obviously because they want you to see everything that the convention has to offer.

The players that will attend come at all stages of the organization. Some superstars will be there like Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, and Alex DeBrincat. Some familiar faces will be attending like Brandon Saad, Brent Seabrook, and Dylan Strome as well as some of the new guys like Robin Lehner, Olli Maatta, and Calvin de Haan. There will even be top prospects like Kiby Dach and Adam Boqvist. Also, you cannot forget about the return of an old friend, Andrew Shaw.

The alumni list is solid as well. There are more recent alumni like Patrick Sharp, Dave Bolland, Bryan Bickell, and Brian Campbell. The TV stars will be there in Jeremy Roenick and Ed Olczyk, as well as some old legends like Bobby Hull, Chris Chelios, and Ed Belfour. These are just a few guys on the list as there are many more on both the active and former side. All of these guys are surely excited about this fun weekend as the fans should be. If you ever have a chance to attend one of these, I highly recommend it.
