Chicago Cubs Rumors: Trade targets on team’s radar
By Ryan Heckman
Nicholas Castellanos, Detroit Tigers
By now, I am quite sure most of you have seen the report that came out on Twitter the other day. Chris McCosky of the Detroit News posted a tweet that said the Cubs are among the teams interested in Tigers right fielder Nicholas Castellanos.
”The one has some teeth,” McCosky said at the end of his tweet.
Castellanos would be a mere rental for the Cubs, as he is set to become a free agent at the end of this season. He is also amidst a 2019 salary of $9.95 million. it is tough to believe the Cubs would want to get involved with that kind of money, considering they weren’t willing spenders over the offseason.
But, as I have said in the past, nothing would surprise me coming from Theo Epstein.
Castellanos is slashing .280/.339/.467 this season with 10 home runs to boot. He would definitely give the Cubs what they’re looking for in another competitive, consistent bat. We’ll have to wait and see if anything happens within the next couple of days, as the tweet from McCosky seemed as though something was imminent.
