Chicago Cubs Rumors: Trade targets on team’s radar
By Ryan Heckman
Eric Sogard, Toronto Blue Jays
This one is yet another one coming out of The Athletic. Sahadev, Mooney along with Ken Rosenthal were in on a report stating that the Cubs were in the process of “gathering information” on Toronto Blue Jays infielder Eric Sogard.

The Athletic believes the Cubs want to add a quality contact hitter and Sogard might be one of the best possible adds they could find. He is currently slashing .305/.369/.491 with 10 home runs on the year. He doesn’t strike out often, as represented by his 14 percent rate this season. Sogard would also give the Cubs a lot of flexibility due to his ability to play second, third, shortstop and right or left field
Sogard is an interesting story this year. Last season, he was cut by the Milwaukee Brewers and found himself on a minor league deal with the Jays this year. He has had a much better 2019 season than I think even Toronto would have thought, and now the Jays are in position to get something in return for his services.
Because of Sogard’s contract, he seems a more likely candidate for the Cubs than this next guy. But, in any event, he is worth mentioning.
