Chicago Cubs Rumors: Trade targets on team’s radar
By Ryan Heckman
Jarrod Dyson, Arizona Diamondbacks
There has been much talk around the Cubs going out and upgrading at the center fielder position, and Jarrod Dyson would certainly fit that bill.
With Albert Almora being incredibly under-productive this season and Kyle Schwarber not exactly impressing at the plate, a right-handed bat like Dyson would make sense.
Sahadev Sharma and Patrick Mooney of The Athletic are the two who broke the report of Dyson potentially being looked at by the Cubs. One thing is for sure: The guy still knows how to hustle.
As is the case with a lot of the Cubs defensively, Dyson brings that type of prowess to the table. Even though he is 34 years old, Dyson is still quick-footed and offers the ability to cover a lot of ground in an efficient manner. For this reason, he’s also remained a concern for opposing teams as a base-runner.
The Diamondbacks aren’t too far out of the playoff conversation at the moment, as they’re hovering right around .500. But, moving Dyson for the right return might make sense for them.
