Chicago Bears Camp Preview: Wide receivers
By Usayd Koshul
4. Conclusion
For the most part, there aren’t expected to be any major changes to the wide receiving core for the 2019 season. We know that names like Taylor Gabriel, Anthony Miller, and Allen Robinson are locks to make the Bears roster. Meanwhile, don’t sleep on guys like Riely Ridley who could impress enough in camp to quickly rise up the depth chart.
As good as the Bears wide receiver competition was in camp last year, this year will be even more fun to watch. One could seriously make the argument that wide receiver is the deepest position on the Bears roster.
Realistically, the Bears 53-man roster at the wide receiver position could end up looking like this:
- Allen Robinson
- Anthony Miller
- Taylor Gabriel
- Cordarrelle Patterson
- Riley Ridley
- Emanuel Hall or Javon Wims
Of the names listed above, it’s Patterson that will be lined up all over the place. There are, however, a few things to keep in mind about the Bears playmakers. First, there are multiple options on every play which makes it hard to determine who will get the ball. This means that it’s hard to see either Robinson or Miller end up having a 1000 yard season for the Bears.
Heading into training camp, it’s clear that expectations are high for the Bears. After showing potential in 2018, the Bears wide receiver core heads into 2019 with the goal of helping the Bears offense breakout.
