3. Player battles to watch

Since we know the top of the Bears wide receiver depth chart is loaded with players that were regular starters in 2018, this year, one main battle to watch at the wide receiver position will be Emanuel Hall versus Javon Wims.

Both Hall and Wims are players who will make strong cases for the Bears final wide receiver position. Ultimately, it will come down to what the Bears want with their wide receivers to be able to do.

If Matt Nagy is looking to bring speed to the offense, then Hall is going to make the cut. He could end up being the Bears most notable addition from the undrafted free agent pool this offseason. However, the one red flag with Hall is his route tree is underdeveloped. In college, he was often seen running go routes.

Despite having surgery earlier in the offseason, Hall appears to be ready for training camp. If the team is cautious with him, this could hurt his chances of making the roster as there are a few things that Wims offers that Hall does not.

However, there is one advantage that Wims has over Hall: Wims is familiar with the offense. Despite not getting regular playtime in 2018, Wims still had an opportunity to watch from the sidelines and see what the Bears offense was all about.

This should benefit him as going into his second year, Wims will have a greater understanding of how the Bears offense works, as well as what to do and not to do. Additionally, Wims also showcases the ability to lineup outside or in the slot.

Overall, Hall and Wims will be two names to monitor for the final roster spot. At this point, it seems like Halls is the one who makes the cut as the Bears know and understand that with just a bit of work, he could end up being a big part of the offense in the future.
