Chicago Bears Training Camp Preview: Running backs

2. Who’s on the roster bubble?
There are two players at this point who are on the roster bubble. In other words, while they may not be on the 53-man roster, they could end up on the practice squad.
Ryan Nall
Nall’s biggest moment in the NFL came during preseason last year where he had a big gain that helped the Bears offense move the chains late in the game against the Bengals. However, beyond that, his impact has been minimal. Nall spent all of 2018 on the Bears practice squad indicating that even though the Bears believe in him, they don’t think Nall has done enough to earn a spot on the 53-man roster. 2019 represents Nall’s last chance to make the Bears roster as a depth piece who’ll see the field only a few times a game.
Kerrith Whyte
The Bears brought Kerrith Whyte in due to his speed and ability to be someone that can make an impact on special teams. Whyte also can be a hidden gem in the passing game for the Bears. While in college, there were multiple times where he ran wheel routes and was able to make something special happen. At this point, Whyte seems like he will make the roster but just be a kick returner. However, if he ends up underperforming in training camp, then he’ll likely end up on the Bears practice squad.
