Chicago Bears: Cordarrelle Patterson is hungry for more
By Ryan Heckman
One of the Chicago Bears’ newest members is as motivated as ever to win a championship.
Winning a Super Bowl is no easy task. Some of the greatest to ever play the game were never able to be crowned a champion. But, these Chicago Bears are out to prove they are up to the task over the 2019 NFL season.
One of their newest additions from this past offseason, return specialist Cordarrelle Patterson, knows exactly how it feels to be on top of the football world. Just this year, he won it all with his former team, the New England Patriots.
Patterson is one of the better return men the NFL has seen in years, and maybe even ever. He brings to the table exactly what the Bears have lacked, thus filling an enormous need. Patterson also brings that championship experience, but he isn’t too wrapped up in all of that.
Recently, he was asked by a Boston reporter, Just in Turpin, what it was like to be a Super Bowl champion.
His response? Hilarious, to be quite frank.
"“Honestly, that Super Bowl don’t mean s*** to me.”"
Now, that quote might be even funnier if taken out of context. But, Patterson went on to say how coming to Chicago is another opportunity for him to further his legacy and continue to build on a strong career.
I don’t know about you, but winning a Super Bowl would be a fairly significant occurrence in my life. For Patterson to say something like that, with a straight face and a swagger about him … that’s actually quite impressive.
Early in his career, Patterson was known for breaking the big play but also making small, silly mistakes at times back with the Minnesota Vikings. To see how he has matured since the early stages of his life in the pros is indeed indicative of a change in his outlook.
He’s all business. He’s all about the next step. Patterson wants to win a Super Bowl with the Bears. Then, guess what? He’d probably say the same thing next summer — last year’s Super Bowl victory doesn’t mean a thing. It’s all about what you’re working towards next.
The confidence and attitude exemplified by Patterson (although, hilarious) is something Bears fans should be excited about. Yes, it’s fun to laugh at the video, but in all seriousness, this guy is ready for the season to start — and that gets me even more excited for September 5th.
