Chicago Bears: 10 players facing important training camp
By Ryan Heckman
Dax Raymond
After mentioning Burton’s situation, I feel it is highly necessary to mention undrafted rookie Dax Raymond. As one of the favorite targets from many Bears fans prior to the draft a few months back, Raymond did not hear his name called through all seven rounds.

However, he was one of the first signings the Bears made out of the rich undrafted pool. Raymond fits everything the Bears would want in a pass-catching tight end. He presents so many matchup nightmares to opposing defensive coordinators, and Matt Nagy is certainly the coach to bring it out of him.
Nagy’s offense has a lot built into it, and tight ends are used in a variety of ways. For Raymond, this is going to be a big jump from the offense he ran at Utah State. But, if he can handle it, learn it and execute it in a quick and competent manner, there is no doubt he will turn some heads at camp.
Raymond is a wide receiver in a tight end’s body. He is one who can not only make the catch in traffic, but make moves after the catch in order to get down field in a hurry. If those moves are on display early on, expect the fan reactions to speak volumes — literally.
With a solid showing in camp, Raymond will make this team. He’s too enticing as an offensive weapon to allow another team to pick him up.
