The Chicago White Sox split another series with the Chicago Cubs, and Eloy was a major factor in each of the White Sox wins vs them.

The Chicago White Sox went into this series feeling good about themselves after two series wins in a row. They wanted to keep it going against their crosstown rivals, the Chicago Cubs. These games are alway so much fun for both the players and the fans. The White Sox want to show that they are no longer the little brother organization anymore and that they are on the rise.

In game one, the White Sox were defeated by a final score of 6-3. Lucas Giolito struggled for the second time against the Cubs. He is now 11-3 and two of those three losses are against the Cubs. For some reason he seems to struggle against the Cubs. Hopefully he can figure that out by next season. Hopefully it is just a coincidence and not something that will continue.

The second game is so much more fun to talk about if you are a White Sox fan. Ivan Nova dominated them once again. It is pretty much the exact same thing as Giolito but the opposite. He seems to have their number. It was awesome to see because with guys like Javier Baez, Kris Bryant, and Anthony Rizzo in their lineup it can be difficult to contain regularly.

The best part of the entire series came in the fourth inning of this game. White Sox superstar Eloy Jimenez blasted a home run to give the Sox a 2-0 lead over the team that traded him. He is single handedly keeping this rivalry alive. He is doing a great job because he is making it look terrible that a Major League GM actually thought it would be a good idea to trade him. It really doesn’t matter anymore though, because he is ours and he is awesome.

The Cubs are a good measuring stick for the White Sox and it was good to see them split the season series with them 2-2. This is potentially going to be the best decade of Chicago Baseball coming up here in the 2020s. The White Sox have to get to another level and the Cubs need to stay there in order for this to happen. This season series showed that this could be the case.  Neither team dominated it and each team had a chance in pretty much every game.

Now, the White Sox turn to the All-Star break along with the rest of Major League Baseball. James McCann, Jose Abreu, and Lucas Giolito will represent the south side in Cleveland. It is going to be an exciting time to be a baseball fan. The White Sox get off the the second half of the season on the West Coast when they visit the Oakland Athletics. The second half of the season will tell a lot about this team and what we can expect next year, so buckle up! Good luck to the American League All-Stars on Tuesday.
