Final argument

The final reason against trading for Westbrook isn’t an enormous one, but it’s a question worth asking: If they trade for Westbrook, what happens to Coby White?

They could throw him into a potential trade. I am very aware of that possibility. But, I’d prefer they kept White, and I think the front office would prefer to do so as well.

So, would White’s status as a no. 7 overall pick just go by the wayside? He’d obviously be relegated to a backup role, which would seem a little anticlimactic.

Just food for thought.

The last bit I have for you to chew on is this: The front office could look at Westbrook as a potentially career-saving move for the both of them.

Gar Forman and John Paxson can’t be that naive. They certainly got to their positions for a reason. At one point or another, they were looked at as smart enough, good enough and possessing the necessary experience.

Whatever happened in the time since has been due to decisions they have made, but now, they have to know that the fans and the city are no longer behind them. They have to — right?

if they made a move like this, many fans would see their confidence levels rise quite a bit. Whether or not you like Westbrook, making a move to land a star would say something about this front office.
